Scope and Contents

This collection is composed primarily of correspondence, as well as newspaper clippings, event flyers, and press releases. The collection documents the activities of Director of the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum, James L. Powell from 1994-2001 and incldues correspondence regarding NAGPRA and artifact repatriation, the George C. Page Museum, litigation, exhibitions development, and the Museum mission statement. The collection also documents the Museum closure on September 11, 2001, establishment of a sister museum in Ibaraki, Japan, and grand theft charges against former Deputy Director Mark Rodriguez.
